Why We Love Baker Park's Newest Expansion

This past Tuesday we had the pleasure of attending the dedication of the final phase of Baker Park. This 15-acre park has been years in the making and though it was a sweltering 92 degrees and most of the attendees were standing in the sun, it could not dampen the excitement of Naples’ latest park finally being complete and ready for the enjoyment of its residents.

What is so special about Baker Park?

To label this park as beautiful would be an understatement. The 15 acres are home to over 400 palm trees plus thousands of other native plants which you can enjoy as you walk quietly along the winding paths, over the tiny bridges, and to the water’s edge where you can take in the breathtaking view of Gordon River. It is here on the Sunrise Terrace that you will often find us doing yoga, enjoying a cup of coffee, reading a book, or just sitting and soaking up the beauty of it all.

While the Sunrise Terrace was beautiful, it was the view from the top of the knoll at the park’s center that really took our breath away. From the top, you can see everything and with the tall grasses waving in the breeze, it will make you pause and realize just how lucky we all are to live in paradise.

What is there to do in Baker Park?

Aside from walking the trails and enjoying the Sunrise Terrace, there are swings throughout the park where you can sit with a good book as well as several picnic tables and charcoal grills where you can enjoy a picnic with the family. For those who have little ones (or adults that are kids at heart), there is a creative playground with rope walls, slides, and more as well as a water feature that you can run through to cool off. If you’re arriving by car, there is plenty of parking and if you’re arriving by boat, there are several docks available. Finally, if you’re looking for a unique place to host a party, the brand new clubhouse complete with a catering kitchen is available for rent but make your reservation ASAP because I know dates will fill up quickly. Oh, and yes, there are public bathrooms!

Cheers!
