Energy is so important when it comes to running two businesses and while we are not perfect when it comes to eating healthy, we try our best to make healthy decisions on a regular basis. We’ve had quite a few people ask what we eat in a day so we thought we would begin to share some of our favorite recipes starting with our go-to smoothie recipes! While many people go, rogue, when it comes to making a smoothie, we like to follow a recipe because it gives us the perfect portions, consistency, and taste!

Chocolate Think Shake

Dessert for breakfast? Why not? This is our go-to smoothie when we have a sweet tooth or if we want a smoothie that we can add protein powder to on an extra busy day! 

Ingredients: 

  • 6 oz fresh spinach

  • 1 cup of coconut water

  • 1 medium banana, peeled, chopped, and frozen

  • 1 cup of blueberries, fresh or frozen 

  • ½ cup cacao powder

  • ¼ cup maple syrup

Instructions: 

  1. Combine frozen banana and blueberries in the blender. Process until coarsely ground.

  2. Add the spinach and coconut water, then pulse until well incorporated. 

  3. Add the cacao powder and maple syrup. Process until the mixture is pureed to your desired consistency.

Mint and Lime Mocktail

This combination is so refreshing and full of zest! Great for in the morning, as an afternoon pick-me-up, or as an alternative if you’re opting out of alcohol,

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lime

  • 1/2 cup fresh mint

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1 cup coconut water

Instructions:

  • Remove skin from the lime

  • Chop the lime into small pieces and place in blender

  • Add all ingredients and blend until smooth

If enjoying as a mocktail, serve in a chilled martini glass with a skewer of blueberries!

Classic Green Smoothie

This ultra-simple smoothie amps up your green consumption without all the fuss of tons of ingredients, prep, etc. This recipe is great for beginner smoothie people because the banana adds the perfect amount of sweetness! 

Ingredients: 

  • 6 oz fresh spinach leaves

  • 1 cup of coconut water

  • 1 to 2 bananas, peeled and frozen

Instructions:

  1. Combine the spinach, coconut water, and the frozen bananas in the blender. Pulse until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Add more water if prefer a thinner smoothie.

Morning Detox Smoothie

This smoothie looks like sunshine in a glass and we love it for the perfect balance of sweetness from the fruit and spice from the dash of cayenne and fresh ginger! 

Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup of coconut water or filtered water

  • 1 large fresh mango, pitted and flesh scooped out, or 1 cup frozen mango chunks

  • 1 large frozen banana, roughly chopped

  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

  • A tiny dash of cayenne pepper

Instructions: 

  1. Beginning with the water, add all ingredients and blend until smooth.

Reset Button Green Smoothie

According to Angela Liddon, author of Oh She Glows Every Day, this smoothie packs an impressive 4 servings of vegetables! It’s the perfect smoothie for when you had a little too much pizza the night before or are planning to eat a juicy cheeseburger for dinner! 

Ingredients: 

  • ¼ cup of water

  • ½ cup chopped cucumber 

  • 2 ½ packed cups baby spinach

  • 1 ripe medium pear, cored and chopped

  • 1 medium frozen banana, roughly chopped

  • Heaping ½ cup frozen pineapple chunks

  • 1 ½ teaspoon fresh lime juice

Instructions:

  1. Put the water and cucumber in a blender and blend until cucumber is liquid. 

  2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. You can add a splash of water if necessary to get the blender going.
